Join the Portsmouth Master Gardener Volunteer Program!

Do you love gardening and want to make a difference in your community? The Portsmouth Master Gardener Volunteer Program is your chance to gain expert knowledge, connect with fellow gardeners, and contribute to meaningful environmental initiatives.

✔ Comprehensive Training – Learn about soil health, plant care, pest management, and more.

✔ Hands-On Experience – Volunteer at plant clinics, community gardens, and educational programs.

✔ Community Impact – Help residents adopt sustainable gardening and landscaping practices.

How to Apply

📝 Step 1: Submit an Application

Deadline: TBA, applications open in 2025 for 2026 class

📢 Step 2: Attend an Interview & Orientation

Qualified applicants will be invited to a session where they can learn more and ask questions.

🔍 Step 3: Background Check & Training Fee

Upon acceptance, a $165 fee covers reference materials and 50 hours of training.

📅 Step 4: Training Begins

🗓 Dates: TBA

📍 Location: Portsmouth VCE Office, 105 Utah Street, Portsmouth, VA

⏰ Time: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

🎓 Step 5: Volunteer & Make an Impact!

After training, interns will complete 50 volunteer hours at community events, gardening projects, and educational programs.
